WHY ADOPT?

Did you know that over 7 million companion animals enter shelters every year in the United States?  That's almost 20,000 a day!

The Bedford Humane Society is working hard to ensure that the animals that come into our rescue receive the best care possible on their way to finding loving, forever homes.  If you are thinking about adding a furry friend to your family, please consider adoption.  Not only will your decision save the life of the animal you take home, it will help to free up space for another animal to be saved!

I am so in love with my little guy! He is a velcro dog and never far from me. We just finished a basic group obedience class. He has learned a car trip os fun and enjoys the view from his car seat in back of me. (he used to shake in fear) .I have enclosed pictures!

I am so glad you gave my application a green light despite my age and unfenced yard situation.  He seems very happy to be here!

"7 years ago I adopted Seamus (Now Mosby). He is the best companion and barn buddy, and one of the smartest animals I've known. The joke in my family and among my friends is that Mosby is like Ferris Bueller, because "they all adore him, they think he's a righteous dude." Thank you for being one of the people to bring him into my life."

"The babies are settling in well!! Satchel is a little love bug, high energy, always demanding attention. He likes to be carried and has the biggest purr when snuggling on your neck. Paige is quieter, but still likes to play. She'll come to sit with you if you are calm and not paying attention to her. She's so sweet. Our girls are absolutely in love with the babies! Thank you for all you do!"

"We lost our 11 year old Siamese tabby and was looking. We found Si the male on line at BHS. They look so much alike. When we called to see him, they said they will have his sister there too. Well we went for 1 and came home with 2. It has been great as they really do keep each other company. His sister we renamed Tipsy. After the white tip on her tail. We really enjoy and love them."
